Dagali to Mysuseter

Previous day   Next day

Leaving the hotel, we return to RV40 and turn north to Geilo. From Geilo, the tour follows RV7 east to Gol and then climbs north-east through the forest on RV51 to Leira and Fagernes.

Staying with RV51, we climb out of Fagernes and back into the mountains to Beito. This is a ski resort by winter, but the chair lifts will be silent and the snow will be just a memory.

Shortly after Bygdin, we will turn east on the Jotenheim Way* (Jotunheimvegen) towards Skåbu. This road may well be unsurfaced for part of the way, so we shall be taking our time. In Skåbu, we join RV255 and continue east to Vinstra.

Rondane from the hotel

In stark contrast to the quiet mountain roads of the Jotunheimvegen, our journey now takes us north on the busy E6, the main North-South artery from Oslo, as it runs along the floor of the valley. However, this is only a short stint of around 30km, as we turn off east shortly before Otta for the climb up to Mysuseter, where we find our hotel on the edge of the Rondane National Park. The Tour stops here for two nights.

* If the Jotunheim Way is unsuitable, the alternative route will continue on RV51 to Randsverk, before turning east on RV257 to join the E6 at Sjoa.
